NASK at the ACM AsiaCCS 2025 conference in Hanoi

04.09.2025

On August 25-29, 2025, the 20th ACM ASIA Conference on Computer and Communications Security (AsiaCCS 2025) was held in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. For years, it has attracted leading researchers and experts in the fields of cybersecurity, cryptography, and privacy protection.

The event brought together dozens of participants from around the world. The program included plenary lectures and thematic sessions on specialized topics, during which the latest research results were presented. During breaks between sessions, participants had the opportunity to sample local cuisine and discover the charms of the city.

The attendees also included NASK employees prof. Mirosław Kutyłowski and Mateusz Leśniak, who presented two papers demonstrating the innovative results of research done at the Cryptology Department.

The first presentation, entitled “Rejection Sampling for Covert Information Channel: Symmetric Power-Of-2-Choices,” was prepared by Mirosław Kutyłowski and Oliwer Sobolewski together with Jacek Cichoń and Dominik Bojko from the Wrocław University of Technology. The paper focused on research into hidden information channels using the “rejection sampling” technique. The topic attracted great interest among the audience.

The second presentation, given by Mateusz Leśniak, “Unveiling Privacy Risks in Quantum Optimization Services,” was prepared in collaboration with Michał Wroński, Mirosław Kutyłowski, and Ewa Syta from Trinity College (USA). The presentation focused on the risks associated with performing sensitive calculations using remote access quantum services. The paper presented an attack that allows sensitive information to be recovered based on an intercepted, encrypted optimization problem.
