Inauguration of the Academic Year 2025/2026 at the Doctoral School Co-Organized by NASK!

27.10.2025

On October 30th, 2025, we celebrate the inauguration of the 2025/2026 academic year at the TIB PAN Doctoral School, which is formed by eight research institutes, including NASK.

The inauguration will be an opportunity to welcome new PhD students and mark the beginning of another year of intensive scientific work.

The ceremony will feature a lecture by prof. Jerzy Stefanowski titled “Artificial Intelligence: from improving the accuracy of systems to building user trust in them”, addressing current challenges in the development of AI. A special artistic highlight will be a French song recital performed by Ms. Antonina Biele.

This year, eight new PhD students are joining NASK research team. They will be working on ambitious and timely research topics at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, natural language processing, and neuroinformatics.

Their research topics include:

  1. Toward Safer and More Effective LLMs in Multilingual Contexts: Evaluations Across European Languages.
  2. Toward Safer and More Effective Large Language Models in Mental Health Applications.
  3. Training Dynamics and Knowledge Control in Foundation Models.
  4. Detection of Manipulated Visual Content in the Context of Disinformation Using Deep Learning and Multimodal Analysis.
  5. Segment-Level Detection of Partially Synthesized Audio Deepfakes with Insight into Model Decisions.
  6. Methods, tools, and tricks for protecting vulnerable groups against online frauds in the era of GenAI.
  7. Application of machine learning- and artificial intelligence-based methods for accurate functional regions in the cerebral cortex identification with the implementation of brain data.
  8. Low-resource adaptation of NLP models for Polish regional languages: A case study on Silesian.

We wish all PhD students and their supervisors a successful and inspiring research journey!
