Research and Academic Computer Network – National Research Institute, thanks to an awarded grant, has launched the “Science4Business” project.

The final gala of the Fifth National Contest of the Polish Information Processing Society (PTI) for the best theses and engineering projects in computer science was held at NASK headquarters. The prizes, funded by NASK, were presented by Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski and Dr. Radosław Nielek, Director of the Institute. NASK Science scientists gave lectures to the prize winners and PTI experts present.

The project entitled “Detection and analysis of online fraud promoted on social media platforms” headed by Dr. Ewelina Bartuzi-Trokielewicz has received funding from the National Centre for Research and Development in the 15th edition of the LIDER Program. Organized continuously since 2009, the Program supports young scientists in building their own research teams.

An international consortium led by the NASK Research Institute will spend nearly 8 million euros for the development of innovative technologies to combat cyber threats. AIPITCH is a project aimed at achieving greater efficiency in identifying threats in cyberspace.

An AI assistant based on the PLLuM Polish language model is now available to Internet users. The model is designed to reflect the complexity of the Polish language, as well as to be free of harmful content and disinformation. NASK was part of the consortium that worked on the model, and is now taking on the role of project leader.

The project “Identity wallets in a hostile environment: privacy and trust ‘by-design’” by Prof. Miroslaw Kutylowski of NASK-SCIENCE has received funding in the OPUS 26+LAP/Weave competition as one of thirteen Polish-German research projects. The OPUS competition is the National Science Centre’s (NCN) largest grant program.

Dr. Konrad Ciecierski has become a member of the scientific committee of the conference “The place of neurosurgery in modern oncology”, which will be held on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Nervous System Tumor Clinic of the National Institute of Oncology PIB in Warsaw. The conference will be held on November 7-8, 2024 in Warsaw.

The NASK SCIENCE will be hosting scientists from PJATK on Wednesday, October 16, from 11:00-12:30 with a scientific seminar entitled “Supporting the detection and evaluation of disinformation with language models”. You are welcome to attend this seminar in person or join the live streaming on NASK’s Youtube. This seminar will be held in Polish.

NASK, Poland’s National Research Institute, and the University of Queensland (UQ) have just signed a cooperation agreement. This partnership will leverage our expertise in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to drive innovative research and educational initiatives.
